Speaking out

Impressive display of dedication

I have so much respect for Ryan Creighton after reading the article from Pc gamer, this man has truly stood up to main stream game developers.

"I strode back to the entrance, to where the deliciously young and impressionable CA was handing out the coins. In an urgent voice, I said “Excuse me! Chris Hecker, one of the panelists, said he only really wants about half the room to get these coins. He sent me to get the bag and run it up to him at the front of the room.”
Then, with no skepticism or suspicion, the CA pleasantly purred “sure,” and handed me the bag."

Taken from Chris Heckers personal blog that can be seen here:

If you have read the linked article you will see how this genius got onto the stage at this weeks GDC and criticised large game developers. I agree with the ideas he conveyed and feel that Pay-to-play games are easily dismissed as improper even though these larger companies use unique ideas as their own.

An example of this is Battlefield Heroes. EA use a pay to gain system within the game . This system involves paying money for weapons and abilities. Even though a small 17.5% of people interviewed said they would pay for an upper hand it feels wrong to me. Especially as these game developers are criticising smaller companies and snatching up their ideas.
